MedAptus and MEDeMORPHUS announced an agreement allowing MEDeMORPHUS to offer the MedAptus charge capture and coding solution as an integrated component of its wireless handheld e-prescribing tool. MEDeMORPHUS, a subsidiary of PacifiCare Health Systems, said it delivers point-of-care solutions to physicians using handheld devices. "Our e-prescribing solution delivers information to the hands of physicians that allow for more informed clinical decisions leading to reduced errors, improved practice efficiency and reduced cost," said David Grant President and Chief Executive Officer of MEDeMORPHUS. "We are expanding the scope of our solution to include charge capture capabilities. Through our relationship with MedAptus we are offering our physician clients an innovative charge capture solution, empowering them to minimize lost charges and to achieve the highest level of reimbursement."
According to the companies, the MedAptus charge capture solution operates on a Pocket PC device and is integrated with the practice scheduling and billing systems. Physicians access up-to-date patient and schedule information at the point-of-care on the handheld. The companies said Physicians use the system to quickly and easily select the proper procedures and diagnoses at the point-of-care. The codes are checked for consistency with an extensive set of federal and local rules that govern medical billing, helping to ensure complete and accurate coding and increasing the efficiency of the medical billing process.
