Handango to Open Dell & HP Pocket PC Stores

Handango has announced relationships with both Dell and Hewlett-Packard to provide private-labeled storefronts for Dell Axim and HP iPAQ Pocket PCs.

Under terms of the multi-year agreement with Dell, Handango said it is providing an online store and an over-the-air download site, as well as publishing trial software on the CD included in each Dell Axim box. Additionally, Handango plans to launch storefronts to provide software to Dell's customers in multiple countries around the world.

As for as Handango's relationship with HP, Handango said it is launnching a multinational initiative to provide HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 series users with value-added software applications. Handango said it will provide software stores built on Handango's application management and provisioning platform, Handango AMPP, which will be available in over 20 countries throughout North America, South America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Customers in each region will be able to access localized applications. Previously, Handango has worked with HP to provide HP Jornada and iPAQ users with a broad variety of applications at the private-labeled HP Jornada Software Stores.

Leveraging the iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 series' integrated 802.11b capabilities, Handango said it will also develop a software store allowing users to purchase and download software applications over-the-air.
