Fonix Corporation has released Fonix VoiceDial ($19.95), a hands-free speech software application for the Microsoft Pocket Phone Edition that enables users to place calls by speaking the phone number or contact name.

"With no voice training required, users can tell their Pocket PC Phone Edition device to call a certain number or individual on the user's contact list, and Fonix VoiceDial will do the rest," said Tim Hong, Wireless and Mobile Product Manager at Fonix. "This hands-free phone dialing solution is speaker independent, so people can use it in their cars, at home, in the office, or anytime they want to make a phone call."

According to the company features:
-- Continuous Dialing Response - When speaking a phone number to dial the user may speak at his or her usual speed and cadence, VoiceDial responds continuously. No pausing or waiting is necessary for each digit to be dialed separately.
-- Unlimited Contact List Size - VoiceDial builds a database of all the contacts in a users contacts database. Customers can easily download their entire Outlook contact database to their Pocket PC Phone Edition devices. There is no limit to the number of names a user can add or access.
-- Works in noisy environments like cars and sporting events.
-- Multiple Prompting Voices - Users can choose from 10 possible voices, giving VoiceDial true customization. All text-to-speech voices are highly intelligible and can handle an unlimited vocabulary.
-- Customized Pronunciation - Enables users to improve accuracy where needed, or to add a nickname for a particular contact.
-- Speaker Independent Phonetic Recognition - No voice training required.

Fonix VoiceDial for Microsoft Pocket PC Phone Edition is for the AT&T Siemens SX56 Pocket PC Phone, HP Jornada 928 WDA, O2 xda, and the T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition.
