By PDAStreet.com Staff SYWARE Inc., a developer of database tools, today introduced FoneDB database software for Smartphone devices. Based on Microsoft’s Windows Powered Smartphone 2002 software, the company said FoneDB allows mobile content developers and users to create full-color, mobile phone databases without programming. The company is gungho about Microsoft’s foray into Smartphones. "The integrated voice, data, and multimedia capabilities of Smartphone 2002 devices are going to power the next generation of highly portable applications," said Sy Danberg, CEO of SYWARE, Inc. "The lightweight, phone-handheld combination provides an opportunity to distribute mobile information to an as yet untapped base of phone users. Whether you’re a content developer working on a 5-star restaurant guide or a corporation creating an in-house white pages, FoneDB provides quick and easy, feature-rich data publishing without requiring you to be a C/C++ developer." With FoneDB, SYWARE said forms are designed and maintained on a desktop computer; records can be viewed or edited (add/change/remove) on either the desktop system or Smartphone device. Once the database application is developed, records can be transferred between the desktop and phone using a built-in ODBC driver. This feature also allows data to be imported into FoneDB from existing ODBC database tables. FoneDB is currently in beta testing with final product slated to ship in Q3 of this year.
