By James Miller Navman has released the Navman GPS 4400, a GPS companion for the Pocket PC and Tablet PC platforms. The GPS 4400 is wireless GPS antenna that provides satellite connectivity to Pocket PC or Tablet PC with with Bluetooth capabilities. According Navman, the GPS 4400 features a GPS receiver that provides accurate location information within 5 meters. For optimal signal reception, its design, including a variety of mounts, allows for dash, sunroof or rear window mounting. The GPS 4400 also includes an embedded Class 2 Bluetooth transceiver, which is capable of communicating with any Serial Port Profile Bluetooth device within a 30' radius. Navman said the GPS 4400 device uses the company's navigation software, SmartST Professional, providing detailed street-level mapping for the 48 contiguous states and Hawaii (Western European maps sold separately), address- to-address routing, Back-on-track rerouting when off-course and an extensive points-of-interest library. The complete GPS 4400 solution includes a wireless GPS antenna, the SmartST Professional navigation software, a vehicle power adapter, vehicle mounting brackets, and both an armband and lanyard for outdoor personal use. The unit operates for a minimum of 10 hours on three AAA batteries and is slated to be available in May for $499.95. Related Links:
