PhatWare Shrinks CalliGrapher with More Features

PhatWare's CalliGrapher 7 is first major release of the company's handwriting recognition software for the Pocket PC in two years.

Among the improvements found in CalliGrapher 7 are a new Configuration Manager that lets users create and modify multiple CalliGrapher configurations, and a new customizable on-screen 24-button keyboard for entry of specific or unique characters. CalliGrapher 7 also has a smaller memory footprint than earlier versions.

The company said additional improvements include a new Customizable Toolbar that lets users gain quick access to their most commonly used commands, an mproved Correction Window for easier recognition corrections, a full On-Screen Keyboard with 10 pre-defined layouts for eight Western European languages, and a 40-Color Ink Palette with improved Ink Speed and Recognition Quality

In addition to its other features, CalliGrapher offers PenCommander, a navigation tool, as well as language pack offerings for Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese/Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish. CalliGrapher 7 supports Microsoft Windows Mobile 2000/2002/2003 software for Pocket PCs, and is priced at $29.95 ($19.95 to upgrade).
