Dial-Up to Internet with Bluetooth Modem for SOHO Market

Billionton plans to release a Bluetooth V.90, 56K modem using Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) BlueCore single-chip technology sometime in the second quarter.

According to the companies, the Billionton BT56R modem ($99)is aimed at home and small office users and can be plugged into any telephone port to provide Bluetooth-enabled PDAs, desktop and notebook PCs with a dial-up connection to the Internet.

Based on CSR's BlueCore V.90 Access example design, the companies said the BT56R offers Class 1 Bluetooth performance with a range of up to 100 meters.
