WindowsMobileToday > News > RIM Enables Samsung Access to Server RIM Enables Samsung Access to Server
By James Miller Samsung and Research In Motion have announced plans to enable BlackBerry connectivity with Samsung's smartphones. Samsung has devices tha run Windows Mobile and the Palm operating systems. RIM's BlackBerry Connect licensing program will enable Samsung smartphones to connect to BlackBerry Enterprise Server using the same push-based wireless architecture and infrastructure that is used to support its BlackBerry devices.
The companies said they also intend to work together to enable Samsung handhelds to connect to BlackBerry Web Client services for individuals and smaller businesses.
Enabling the connection of devices to BlackBerry Enterprise Server has become an important added value for a handheld platform to deliver, as BlackBerry infrastructures have become very popular in enterprises across the world. Just last month PalmSource and RIM announced a pact to develop a software client that enables BlackBerry connectivity to the Palm OS, while Sony Ericsson and RIM have also announced plans to do essentially the same thing.
