Customers may now use the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition cellular-wireless handheld to make voice calls, send data and manage documents over the carrier’s GSM/GPRS network. Cingular director of industry solutions Laura Johnson asserts, "Our customers in the transportation and consumer packaged goods industries in particular will see direct benefits in the features, functionality and durability of this device." Designed for use in harsh environments, the 700 series can withstand multiple 5-foot (1.5 meter) drops to concrete and is sealed against rain and dust. The device supports A-GPS location services and WLAN (802.11b) Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth personal area networking wireless capabilities. The 761 measures 7.5 x 3.5 x 2 inches and weighs 17 to 20 ounces, depending on options selected. The screen is a Pocket PC typical 240 X 320 pixels 64K color type and its lithium ion battery specs out to deliver 6-10 hours of power on a single charge. A 400 MHz Intel XScale processor and 64 MB or 128 MB of RAM power the handheld, plus there are several memory and peripheral expansion card options. Related Links:
