By James Alan Miller
Recently, the electronics solutions vendor extended its PDA RAM expansion program to Dell's top-of-the-line Axim, the X51v. With it, X51v owners can double the amount of storage in their Pocket PC from 64 MB to 128 MB. Once the upgraded as been performed, you are left with about 113 MB of accessible memory compared to the 49 MB the handhelds ship with. As an added bonus, the X51v's accepts the memory upgrade without Pocket PC Techs proprietary driver because the system runs Windows Mobile 5.0. Since the X51v uses low voltage hi-speed BGA memory, stacking is not available and 128MB will be the maximum capacity. The upgrade voids Dell's warranty, but Pocket PC's Techs provides one of its own for the work and the units mother board. Pocket PC's Axim X51v upgrade, which includes second-day return shipping for U.S. customers, goes for $169. Related Links:
