Hewlett Packard released a software update for its top-of-the-line iPAQ hx4700 series last month to correct a couple of audio problems with the Pocket PC. Several days later the company removed the download due to unoforseen installation problems with certian languages.

This update is now back up on the HP Web site, as the installation bugs have been fixed.

HP says the Driver Update corrects an issue with the potential for speaker damage from third-party audio applications that generate a very high-volume audio signal, plus another problem where the Microphone Automatic Gain Control setting was not saved after a power cycle.

You can use the free download for all hx4700 models. It is not a ROM update, so no data is removed from the Pocket PC.
