HP IPAQ 6325 Was Worth The Wait
OK, let's put some of these accusations and rumors to REST! I've waited to respond to these, making sure of what I am about to write first.

I've been reading multiple postings by TJ and Scott Burgess about the IPAQ 6325 and found them misleading and inaccurate. These things are a lot of money, so it's important to make sure what we read is "on the money".

First, TJ is talking about the IPAQ 6315 sold by T-Mobile and NOT the IPAQ 6325 sold by HP for Cingular (although he put his comments on the 6325 string). While it's true that there were some early problems with the 6315 and T-Mobile temporarily stopped selling them, the new ROM update corrected these. My brother-in-law purchased the 6315 from T-Mobile, got the ROM update and it's flawless. Yes, he uses the Wi-Fi.

Second, TJ mentions that the phone has "Low CPU power", "low memory", "low-power radio so phone call quality is HORRIFIC" and that "This phone is also riddled with bugs, starting with stability issues to Bluetooth connectivity issues". I purchased the IPAQ 6325 from HP (it's not sold by Cingular but made for Cingular) 2 1/2 weeks ago. It has the updated ROM Revision 1.10.08 ENG (date of 03/15/05), the same version I might add that my brother-in-law has on his 6315. Even though I have an IPAQ 5455 with a 400 mhz processor, my new 6325 proved to be faster. There must be a reason for this that I am unaware of, but the software configuration is roughly the same and it is faster. Memory is fine (I'm installing some programs in the protected ROM area of the "IPAQ File Store") and phone quality is best when using a wired or wireless headset (if not using a headset, volume on "full" muffles the sound). The unit is stable other than needing an occassional reset (hey, it's a computer) and the Wi-Fi & Bluetooth features work flawlessly.

Whatever problems that existed with the 6315 have been fixed and were not inherited by the 6325. I made the right choice in purchasing this pda phone for $499 and it's a keeper.
