A beta edition of DataViz's RoadSync Microsoft Exchange client is now available for Google's Android platform.

The free software, which integrates Microsoft's ActiveSync protocol, allows 'gPhones' like T-Mobile's G1 and Vodafone HTC Magic models to support direct push synchronization in an Exchange Server (2003 or 2007) environment. In addition to e-mail, the new beta software, available through the Android Market, can handle contacts and attachments.

According to DataViz, key features include:

  •
  • Direct Push" e-mail
  •
  • Instant access message alerts via the Android notification bar
  •
  • Effortlessly scroll through your inbox with ability to see high and low priority messages and attachments
  •
  • Quickly mark and delete multiple messages
  •
  • Sync Exchange Contacts to the built-in application while keeping them separate from Google and other contacts
  •
  • View Contact photos in RoadSync messages as well as Caller-ID
  •
  • Easily lookup contacts, dial phone numbers, e-mail colleagues, text friends and map addresses using Google Maps
  •
  • Download attachments of all types - view, edit and send Microsoft Word & Excel files using Documents To Go for Android

In related news, DataViz is now shipping Documents To Go Standard Edition version 1.0 for Android. The software, long available for other PDAs and handhelds, allows users to view, edit and create Microsoft Word and Excel files.

Files can be transferred via Bluetooth, USB, memory cards as well as e-mail attachments. DataViz’s InTact Technology ensures that all original file formatting is retained once a file has been edited on an Android handset and forwarded on.
