Celio may roll out a Google-Android run version of its Redfly smartphone companion later this year. Writing on a company message board, a spokesperson said: "We're shooting for a Q3-ish 2009 release, but I can't promise anything yet and we don't have any specific details to discuss right now. I can tell you that the work is progressing very nicely." It showed off a prototype of this device earlier this year.
Currently, Redfly devices are laptop-like peripherals are essentially a dumb-terminal that turn smartphones into notebook computers. For instance, one model measures 9 x 6 x 0.1 inches and weighs 2.0 pounds. It has an 8-inch LCD that folds against a full-size laptop-style keyboard. It simply connects via Bluetooth or USB to your smartphone.
