Message:

I checked the format of the card; it's FAT (as in FAT16, I think). Also, I created a little "test.txt" file on it. It still doesn't work.

On the Clio, I'm getting the infamous "Unidentified PCCard Adapter" error, which tells me to "Enter the name of the driver for this PCCard" (yes, I have the thing staring at me right now...).

Problem is, I don't know what answer to give it; is it just asking for the driver name with the extension (as in atadisk.dll)? Should I include quotes? Does it need a directory structure? What is the root directory?

I've done some research and downloaded several "updates" from various manufacturers, even one from IBM (for the problem with their Microdrive). All of the updates involve either "atadisk.dll" or "pcmcia.dll". One of these drivers (or both) has to be the one controlling the CF interface.
So far, none of the updates worked (or I couldn't figure out how to get them to work).

My research also showed that is problem occurs on many handhelds, with many different solutions, including a soft reset (which I tried), a hard reset (which I am about to do), or downloading an update from the manufacturer of the handheld (not possible with Clio). In other words, "Unidentified PCCard Adapter" could mean anything.

Here are my new questions for everyone:

Is there a setting that's supposed to be in the Registry concerning Compact Flash cards or the interface?

What are the settings files used by Windows CE (as in *.ini files)?

Are there any utility programs that might help solve this problem?

My last resort is to try using Linux VR as my operating system. I am currently trying to get more information about it and will see if it works; if not, then that will tell me it's a hardware problem, not software.
