I have experienced lots of problems with Internet Explorer on my
Hitachi E-plate. More and more websites are not displayed or not
even accessed because of the lack of Javascript, secure acces
and other protocols.I've been looking for a browser alternative and found nothing to
be natively available for SH4. So then I started looking at Java. To
cut a long story short: I found Icestorm (www.icestorm.no) and
Personal Java from Sun to run perfectly.
o.k. it's terribly slow and a pain to install, but now that i've got it
running, it displays every webpage just fine.
So if you need a web browser alternative for some odd page to
acces, download the java and icestorm files that I put in the
Files-section of the 'Aero8000 and SH4'- Yahoo group, and install (tested on an
ePlate, not on Compaq Aero btw)
I think that tweaking the run command (all the lib includes) will
even improve performance and give more options. I have not
tried that extensively.
