Message:

Dear Jornada 680 users,

Some of you upgraded your Jornada 680 to Jornada 690 by replacing the original ROM chip to a 16MB RAM/ROM chip. I would like to buy or trade your spare original ROM chip. I am looking for an original Jornada 680 ROM chip (English version). I bought a Jornada 688 which has a simplified Chinese ROM chip. I would like to convert it into a regular Jornada 680.

I don’t want to spend a lot of money on this item, because:
1. I don’t know if this conversion will work or not.
2. I am going to use my J688 only as a note taker.

Two Jornada owners responded my email a few weeks ago. For some reasons, I either couldn’t reach them or the deal didn’t go through. Anyway, would anyone be interested in trading your spare Jornada original 680 ROM for some of the following things?

1. A USB hard drive enclosure. I bought this from Computer Geeks. I could not make it works with my computers at all. I suspect it needs an AC adapter. I couldn't get any information from Computer Geeks. (I must have bad lucks with Computer Geeks. This is not the first time I have problems with their product.) I will pack it with a working 5GB IBM notebook 2.5" hard drive.

2. A Rhinoskin RhinoPak 1100 soft case for Palm or PocketPC.

3. A very compact Compaq AC adapter (5VDC 1500ma; Size 2.4” x 1.7” x 1.0”). It was original for Compaq HPC 810. It works with Compaq iPaq or Toshiba e570. I also have a dead Compaq HPC 810 if any of you interested.

4. A USB 4 port mini hub.

5. Some cash?

Thanks.
