i use NetBSD UNIX on my IBM z50... works great as a wireless X11 terminal, has a long battery life, supports remote wireless printing, and due to recent NetBSD kernel improvements, now supports sound (the TrackPoint has been supported for more than a year)...i also use an external CDRW with my z50, as the Adaptec SCSI PCMCIA adapter is supported...
i can also use a virtual desktop of 1280x960 at 16bpp!
all in all, a very nice lightweight UNIX laptop...
btw, i took out the AAA batteries more than a year ago... don't need 'em as i *never* use CE...
