Help.I have ipaq 3850 and MA701 Wireless LAN CF card. I have CF jacket.
I have a home network as follows: WinXP gateway PC running USB ADSL modem. This gateway PC is set up for internet sharing, and serves out to two other PC's which work fine. The gateway IP is 192.168.0.1. I have a wireless ME102 Netgear Access Point at IP 192.168.0.5. This worked perfectly for wireless network access with my Apple Powerbook and Airport card until my laptop was stolen recently. I now have this iPaq and want to (a) be able to sync via wireless LAN with the gateway PC which is also my ActiveSync PC and (b) primarily I want to be able to get wireless internet, email etc. in my house and also in airports/hotels/wireless enabled zones.
The network is fully working as an entity.
I can install the MA701 to the ipaq with latest drivers. The LanCF will initialise, will find and identify the wireless network in the house on infrastructure mode, will recognise changes to the SSID of the wireless access point, and displays an excellent signal strength. When out of range, the ipaq shows 'disconnection', so this is not an anomaly. The ipaq has been manually assigned an IP on the wireless card of 192.168.0.200. It will PING itself on both that address and also universal identifier 127.0.0.1. It will not ping any other network address, even the wireless base station, which it is receiving a signal from. Pings time out on all network addresses on the network. Internet will time out after about 30 seconds with a 'page you requested could not be found'. I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I've been through every setting I can find, and can't see what.
In Settings>Connections> Network Adaptors, the MA701 is set to use specific IP's... it's IP address is 192.168.0.200, subnet 255.255.0.0 (same as network) and default gateway has been set as both 192.168.0.1 (computer connected to ADSL) and also 192.168.0.5 (wireless access point, which in turn is set up to use 192.168.0.1 as default internet gateway). Name servers are set as 192.168.0.1 and WINS 192.168.0.1, but I am not sure if this is correct. No special WINS server or DNS server software is running on the WinXP PC, just standard internet connection sharing, so maybe these numbers are a problem....
In connections, 'automatically connect to the internet using these settings' is set to a custom created option called HomeLAN. This is not set up for a modem, proxy settings are as follows: This network connects to the internet is ticked, this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet is ticked, and the proxy server is at current set to 192.168.0.5 (the access point) but has also previously been set to 192.168.0.1 (the connected ADSL PC). Under advanced, HTTP and Socks have both been set to whatever the address is of the proxy server in the previous screen, Type Socks 4.
The access point is not running encryption nor security settings of any kind, so nothing there at all...
In the automatically connect to work using these settings section, again, it is set to a setting called Home LAN (custom) which again has no modem set up, VPN is not set at all (I don't know if, or why this needs configuring but am open to instruction on this one...)Proxy settings/internet connect settings are of course the same as the configuration for internet...
My network card connects to: Has been set to both 'Work' and 'The Internet' for testing purposes, but I cannot guarantee that all the correct settings have ever been used at the same time...
Ideally I need to hear from someone who has set this kind of system up before, preferably with the same Wireless LAN CF, or at least someone who knows what they are doing...
Everything seems to be working right, but perhaps not configured right... help, please....

Also, once I get this up and running, how do I use WLAN to Sync up my ipaq....
